3MACHINES

Anna Lucas clothing began in the fall of 2004 in Honolulu Hawaii. My inspiration comes from nature, vintage textiles and the divine form of the body. The fabrics that I use are remnants. They are not currently in production so the use of fabric is of low environmental impact. I primarily work with spandex and cotton/spandex blends. Each piece is a limited edition. All garments are designed, cut and sewn Connecticut.

Susan Hickman is an artist and designer living in New London, CT. She is an eclectic mixed media artists that works as a painter, graphic designer, photographer, clothing designer and more. She enjoys experimenting with texture and color and finds making work of any kind an exploration and an escape. 

Susan believes in sustainable fashion and strives to get her fabric, locally, recycled or second hand whenever possible. She designs for everyday wear as well as creating clothing with theatrical and exaggerated elements. She loves the idea of storytelling with fashion, being able to add accents and symbolism that make the viewer think outside the box

My designs have traveled with me through time and helped me define my existence. When I first decided to alter my clothes as a teen, I knew this was a life long journey that would always fill me with joy and passion.  As a self taught artist, the world that has surrounded me, shapes me. Through love and heartbreak and finding true love, a sewing machine and a dress form have always stood by. A shoulder to lean on, and an escape for a busy mind. Mostly I create wearable fashion. My body, full of curves and turns has challenged me to think outside the standards. And yet traditional designs still spark endless inspiration. 

C*KIN has elevated my creative thought and helped to expand my skills. 

I am also available for custom work. I've made wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, dresses for wedding attendees,  dresses for everyday wear, garments for dance performances. From casual to formal, I've done it. Working with individuals to make something unique for them is a lovely process. 

3machineS is made up of 3 designers, 

Anna Lucas, Cristin Rivera and 

Susan Hickman.  We have been collaborating for over 10 years. As multi artist, together we have coordinated over 25 events in New London County. Fashion shows, art exhibits, live music, pop up boutiques, Over the next year we have 5 events, including Fashions shows and pop up boutiques.
